Monday Mockup #14

How about a little Monday Mockup revival? It's rainy and quiet here and I've been playing around with April Rosenthal's upcoming line "Sweet Marion". The colors aren't my usual scheme, but they have captured me. I just think it's so pretty! April named the line after her grandmother and I've loved reading stories about her on Instagram.

Pattern: Swoon by Camille Roskelley at Thimble Blossoms
Fabric: Sweet Marion by April Rosenthal for Moda (releasing in February I believe)

Have you made a Swoon? What fabric did you use? It's still my very favorite quilt pattern ever, I honestly think I'd love one in any line. Maybe 2017 will be the year :)

First Snow Quilt

Hello friends! I'm glad to be back at this happy quilty internet spot sharing with you. Many fun things have been going on at Woodberry Way!

Today I am sharing this gorgeous quilt made by Julia from Red Rain Boots Handmade. This pattern is called "First Snow", and can be found in my shop here in PDF format. (I will have paper patterns available for wholesale next year- thank you for your patience as I try to do this right.)

Julia and I planned the fabric selection together and many have asked for specifics on what was used and where to buy it. Though I can't make that happen exactly, I've designed a similar bundle for Sterling at Sterling Quilt Co., which she has for sale on her Instagram account here. She is offering fat quarter bundles, as well as a full quilt kit! Plus, she's giving away a fat quarter bundle on my account this week. Be sure to enter! Here is the version she has for sale:

Another great shop I'd recommend for this project is Starlit Quilts on Etsy. She has tons of festive red and greens to choose from, with the option to get just 1/4 yards or fat quarters. I'd recommend just plugging in "red" or "green" to her search bar and have fun designing your own Christmasy bundle!

As far as Julia's particular version, here's what was used:
  • Background- Moda Bella Ruby Ice and White 98
  • Fat quarters- reds, greens, and aquas from Bonnie and Camille's "Little Ruby", "Vintage Picnic", "Daysail", and "Vintage Modern", Tasha Noel's "Pixie Noel" and "Country Girls", and Lori Holt's "Cozy Christmas" and "Calico Days".
  • Binding- "Pixie Noel" by Tasha Noel
  • Backing- "Vintage Picnic" by Bonnie and Camille

How about a festive holiday beach getaway? Can you even believe how gorgeous this is!? Julia did such a beautiful job, I can't get over it. She even braved Hurricane Matthew to get this picture for us :)

The quilting on this one was done by Nicole at Kwilt Loft. I love the straight lines, wonderful job Nicole!

It has been a joy seeing different versions of this quilt pop up at #firstsnowquilt on Instagram. Thank you for all the love on this pattern. And thanks again Julia for sewing up this version so beautifully!

The other variation included in this pattern (it's a two-for-one!) will be posted next week, I can't wait to show you. I sewed it up in all solids, it's a fun one!

I'm linking this post up to Lorna at Sew Fresh Quilts. I love to join her link party when I remember!
