New Pattern- Rise Quilt

I've got a fun new pattern coming up and can't resist showing a little of the top before I quilt it.

I have always loved hot air balloons. Who doesn't!? My husband and I were supposed to go up in one on our honeymoon, but there was lightning in the forecast and we couldn't go up. Some day I'll go!

As I was putting my baby to sleep a few days ago and noticed the hot air balloons on his swaddle and thought- it would be fun to make a hot air balloon quilt. That shows you how compulsive I am- I think that was 4 days ago and now I have a new pattern and this quilt top!

For a long time I've wanted to try out prairie points (the little triangles on the border) and I knew this was the perfect project to do so.

The fabric is Nadra Ridgeway's newest line "Backyard Roses". I feel like this blog is turning into a plug for her! I really love her fabric lines, what can I say. I used a fat eighth bundle.

I plan to release this pattern block by block, since they are all unique. I'll be hosting a sew along here on the blog, starting with the simplest balloon and progressing to the most complex. Even the hardest one isn't very tricky though. I'll have more details as soon as it's all ready, hopefully early next week.

  2. I look forward to trying my first quilt along. I'm an avid sewer but don't do quilts much. So tell me, can I use a charm pack for this?

    1. Hi Leslie, you probably got my response on Instagram already, but in case readers here are wondering- a charm pack won't work as you will need some strips that are larger than 5 inches. Most pieces are 8 or 9 inches long. Thanks for quilting along!
