Star Kisses Quilt and Mini

The pattern I designed for McCall's Quick Quilts last Christmas is now available in my shop, along with a cute mini version. It's one of my favorites- so simple and quick, and showcases fabric very well. Here's the throw size version which finishes at 79" x 61".

The quilt I made for the magazine was done in Hazelwood by 1 Canoe 2 (you can see it here). I gave that one away at Christmas so I needed to make up a new sample. Here's the fabric pull I used- a combination of Cluck Cluck Sew prints for the stars, and mostly Bonnie and Camille prints for the outsides.

This is one of my very favorite color combinations, I just can't get enough of it! The binding is my long-hoarded Avalon by Fig Tree. I'm happy to see her framing this beauty and no longer on my shelf! The pattern calls for either 12 FQs, or 12 FQs and 12 F8s, depending on how much variation you want. I did the former for my first quilt and the latter for this one.

The fabulous quilting was done by Star at Starlit Quilts. She is super meticulous, I've never had a quilter ask me about my preference regarding scale until this quilt. She has several less-common patterns such as this one, which I love. I don't remember what it's called, you'll have to check her site.

For the mini quilt, I went with the same color scheme but added some Christmas prints.

Those winter kissing bunnies kill me! They are from the Pixie Noel line by Tasha Noel, who always designs THE SWEETEST fabric.

The mini finishes at 18" square, so the blocks are half the size of the big quilt. It is by far the easiest, quickest pattern in my shop.

To celebrate this finish (and the fact that I actually blogged about it), I'm having a sale for blog readers only- use the code STARKISSES for 15% off your entire purchase now through Friday. Thank you for your kind comments and encouragement, it means a lot to me!

Now let's see if my next post also includes sawtooth stars, ha! I don't think I'll ever get tired of them.

  6. I made the Star Kisses quilt. It is my snuggly nap quilt. I quilted feathers all over it. It turned out beautifully. It was so fun to make I'm planning another one.
